When OSPF Becomes a Distance Vector Protocol

Have you ever came across the situation implying that OSPF is not a pure link-state protocol? Seems hard to believe, but it is true. OSPF behaves almost like a distance vector protocol between the areas, as IP prefixes may reappear into the area from which were originated. This causes temporary routing instabilities into multi-area OSPF network without proper usage of inter-area summarization.

Interested in some help how to tweak OSPF parameters and how to prevent IP prefix reappearance in the original area? Take our e-learning which will give you the answers and go through hands-on remote lab exercise that will give you the real experience.
