Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks v3.0
This set of lab exercises (lab bundle) contains all the exercises associated with the Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI) 3.0 course. The lab exercises address both basic and advanced aspects of RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP and policy-routing configuration, as well as other routing related features. The exercises cover:
- Deploying EIGRP routing protocol and enhancing EIGRP operation with manual route summarization, default route announcement and EIGRP stub feature
- Deploying OSPF in single area, influencing OSPF operation over LAN media
- Deploying OSPF in Non-Broadcast Multiple Access (NBMA) environment
- Configuring OSPF in multiple areas with different non-backbone area types
- Implementing OSPF summarization, influencing OSPF area default cost and route selection
- Deploying OSPF virtual link
- Configuring IS-IS in multiple areas and IS-IS route summarization
- Deploying redistribution of routing information and enhancing route redistribution with filtering
- Configuring EBGP and IBGP connections
- Scaling BGP configuration by adjusting next-hop-self processing and synchronization
- Using route maps to influence BGP local preference and MED attributes
- Deploying PIM sparse-dense mode and IGMP
- Deploying IPv6 addressing, OSPFv3 routing and connecting IPv6 over IPv4 with IPv6 tunnel
Content
This set of lab exercises contains the following exercises:
- Configuring and Tuning EIGRP
- Configuring Single Area OSPF
- Configuring OSPF for Frame Relay Environment
- Configuring a Multiarea OSPF Network
- Configuring Intergrated IS-IS in Multiple Areas
- Configuring Route Redistribution
- Configuring BGP
- Scaling BGP
- Configuring Multicast Routing
- Configuring IPv6 Addressing, OSPFv3 Routing and IPv6 Tunnel
Objectives
Upon finishing this set of exercises, you will be able to:
Configure the routers with EIGRP and disable EIGRP auto-summarization
Importance
This lab bundle is highly recommended for all students deploying and scaling IGP (Interior Gateway Protocol) protocols such as RIP, EIGRP, OSPF and IS-IS as well as EGP (Exterior Gateway Protocol) protocols such as BGP, multicast functionality and IPv6 in their networks. The lab bundle is also recommended to students who have attended the BSCI course in the past and would like to improve or refresh their configuration and troubleshooting skills.
Target Audience
The course is targeted at pre- and post-sales technical support engineers who have to design and implement RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, PIM sparse-dense, IPv6 addressing, OSPFv3 and IPv6 tunnels in their networks.
Prerequisite Knowledge
To successfully complete this set of exercises, you need to be familiar with generic IP routing features and posess in-depth knowledge of RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, multicast and IPv6. You should have practical experience with Cisco IOS commands associated with RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, multicast and IPv6. This knowledge is best gained by attending the Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI) 3.0 course.
