Small and Medium Business Network Solutions v1.0
This subscription-based lab bundle contains exercises that allow you to configure a secure solution for a small company (or home office) to connect our office to the Internet through a different access technologies. You will connect your office to the Internet through a leased line, dialup connection, DSL connection and cable connection.
Each lab exercise in the series builds on the knowledge gained within the previous lab exercises while adding another important technology or process to the overall solution. The exercises are structured in a way that makes them immediately useful – for example, the engineers, soon upon completing the exercise, are able to configure the simplest Internet connectivity.
The following scenarios are included:
- A company using public IP addresses connected to the Internet through a leased line – covers simple IP routing, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server on the router and basic Context-Based Access Control (CBAC).
- A company using private IP addresses connected to the Internet through a leased line – adds Network Address Translation / Port Address Translation (NAT/PAT) and NAT/PAT with inside server.
- A company connects to the Internet through Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) using NAT/PAT over dynamically allocated IP address – adds dialup knowledge, dial-on-demand routing, Password Authentication Protocol / Challenge Handshakle Authentication Protocol (PAP/CHAP) authentication.
- A company with inside Web server connects to the Internet through ISDN using a static IP address – combines NAT/PAT with inside server with dial-up issues.
- A company with an inside Web server connects to the Internet through a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) connection with external DSL modem – adds Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) skills to the dial-up skills.
- A company connects to the Internet through a Cable or Long Reach Ethernet (LRE) provider – adds the outside DHCP client configuration skills.
