NIL at 5th DIGS Special Interest Group Next-Gen Infrastructure

Is your CIO talking about Software Defined Networking (SDN) or Next-Gen Infrastructure? Are you expected to prepare an Next-Gen Infrastructure strategy for your organization? Are you confused by inconsistent and incompatible messages from various vendors? Trying to figure out what Next-Gen Infrastructure really means? Wondering how it will affect your career?

Main topic of the event was Hyperconverged Infrastructure.

More about Mitja’s session

What you’ve not been told about (hyper)converged infrastructure: Cloud-scale architectures used and propagated by the likes of Google and Amazon made hardware and software vendors mimic them trying to replace declining revenues or create new revenue streams.
We’ve seen lots of converged and hyper-converged solutions (Vblock, Nutanix, VSAN, …) offered by traditional vendors and emerging startups, all of them promising simplified and seamlessly scalable infrastructure. As always, all that glitters is not gold, and in reality you’re always forced to make trade-offs that you should be aware of but will never hear about from vendors. In his presentation Mitja will focus on hands-on aspects of designing and deploying converged and hyper-converged infrastructure and describe lessons learned implementing and operating hyper-converged solutions, including hiccups encountered in day-2 operations, and data integrity and lock-in challenges.
